Prof. Shulan Tang | College Principal, Lecturer

Shulan completed 8 years training (1979-1987) at the prestigious Nanjing and Beijing TCM Univeristies, attaining a Bachelor degree, followed by a Master degree in Medicine. She completed a 3 years research of Chinese Herbal Prescription under one of the most famous TCM Professor; Mian Zhi Wang.

Shulan was Head Physician at South East University, China, for four years until 1991.  With over 20 years of Clinical and Teaching experience in the UK and Europe, Professor Tang continues sharing her knowledge with Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners.

Shulan received her Professorship from Nanjing TCM University and is Vice President of the renowned World federation of Chinese Medicine specialising in Gynaecology, and Vice President of Pan-European federation of consultant in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She was an Academic Executive of the association of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ATCM) from 1998 to 2008, and chief editor of Journal of the ATCM from 2002 to 2008, and President of ATCM from 2016.

DR. PEGGY BOSCH is a psychologist, licensed acupuncturist, and Heilpraktikerin (German name for a state exam that allows non-MDs to work in healthcare), who received her PhD (in psychology) from the Radboud University, Nijmegen (Netherlands) on acupuncture in the treatment of depression, schizophrenia and sleep disorders. She works as a fulltime psychologist at the (psychiatric) LVR-Klinik Bedburg-Hau in Germany, where she also treats patients with acupuncture and leads an acupuncture research group. She is an author of numerous papers in this field and is a lecturer at the Shenzhou Open University of TCM in Amsterdam, International Lectures and WAVAN (all in the Netherlands). She was a keynote lecturer at many conferences and thoroughly enjoys collaborating internationally in research on acupuncture.

PROF. SHIWEI ZHOU graduated from Tianjin TCM University in 1985 and gained his Masters degree in same university in 1988.  Since then, he had been working in the Acupuncture and Moxibustion Department of First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin TCM University.  During this period, he worked as Teacher and Doctor in the hospital and follow his tutor Xuemin Shi, who is one of the Master Acupuncturists in China.  His expertise in acupuncture is especially focusing on the treatment of Sequelae period of Stroke, Dementia, Infertility problem, Backache, Mirgrain. Since May 2000, Prof. Zhou came to UK as TCM Practitioner and gained a successful result in treating all the problem above.

PROF. PEILIN SUN has been engaged in TCM clinical practice and teaching for more than thirty years. He used to give lectures at the International Acupuncture Training Center, Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine after his graduation from his Masters study in 1988. In September 1989, he was invited by the Belgian doctors’ Acupuncture Association to give a number of seminars and lectures.  Currently Prof. Sun teaches in Belgium and other European countries whilst also a visiting professor at a number of China Universities of Traditional Chinese Medicine and tutor on the Masters degree programme.  While working in China, Prof. Sun published more than twenty articles. Since moving to Belgium, he has published more than thirty articles in different international medical journals.

PROF. TIANJUN WANG graduated from Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine (NUCM) in 1989 and had worked as a Medical Doctor and Acupuncturist in a Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Nanjing, China for 18 years. Dr. T Wang completed his PhD at NUCM, studying and researching Acupuncture in the Treatment for Depression. He was a clinical supervisor and Vice-professor in NUCM. Dr. Wang moved to the UK and joined University of East London UK (UEL) as a Senior Lecturer and the Director of Acupuncture Clinic in 2007 until Dec 2014. He is a Visiting Professor of Liaoning University of TCM, China from 2009.  Currently Prof. Wang is the Acupuncture Course Director and Senior Lecturer at College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM). He owns his TJAcupuncture Clinic in London, the UK.

Andrew Edwards graduated from Northern College of Acupuncture in York 2008 after studying 3 years TCM to MSc level, awarded Postgraduate Diploma in Acupuncture. Studied Tui Na 2014 at Shulan College of Chinese Herbal Medicine Manchester, awarded Diploma. Runs a successful clinic in Derbyshire since graduation and is a member of the British Acupuncture Council specialising in balance method distal acupuncture Tan Style. The majority of his work is musculoskeletal pain and injury management combing distal acupuncture with Tui Na.  The rest of his referrals are a mixture of fibromyalgia/ ivf /fertility and emotional disorders like stress and anxiety.

PROF. MEI LU has worked in Nanjing China since 1990 to 2015, as a medical doctor of Chinese Medicine and professor, successively in Acupuncture Dept. of Nanjing Children’s and Acupuncture Dept. of International Education College of Nanjing University of TCM. During this stage, from1998 to 2000, took part in Chinese Medical Team for Guyana  of South America, taking charge of Acupuncture Dept. of Georgetown Hospital.  From 2005 up to now, working as a professor and TCM doctor in Lisbon in Escola Medicina Tradicional Chinesa and TCM Clinic of China Health as the clinic director. Also take responsibility of the formation Department of  NCMS association.

Dr Yuhong Xie | Lecturer, Clinic Supervisor

Dr. Yuhong Xie graduated from Nanjing University of TCM in 1990 and has been working with the University as a lecturer and its affiliated hospitals as a doctor until 2005. In July 2005, Dr. Xie was awarded Doctorate in medicine in the field of Acupuncture and Qigong Tuina by Nanjing University of TCM in China. After 2005 he started practicing and teaching Chinese Medicine in the UK. He is now practicing as a TCM consultant at his own clinic in Llandudno (North Wales) and teaching regular courses at Shulan College Manchester.

PROF. WEI XU is currently a senior scientist at the Roche Innovation Center in Zurich (Hoffmann-La Roche), leading several drug discovery programs in cancer immunotherapy. His lab is interested in understanding of immune regulation of myeloid cells in the context of tumor microenvironment. He obtained his medical bachelor’s degree at Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine in 1999, and PhD in immunology at Leiden University in the Netherlands in 2007. Later he performed his post-doctoral training at the Baylor Institute for Immunology under the supervision of Dr. Jacques Banchereau prior to joining Roche.

Dr Liuzhong Ye graduated from the prestigious Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine following a 5 year full-time training in both Chinese and Western Medicine. He then moved on to his Master and Ph.D research and practice in the Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for a further 6 year practice and research, during which he completed his advanced training in digestive and rheumatic diseases. he was also teaching at the university for undergraduate students. In 2003 Dr Ye came to the UK and started his profession as a TCM practitioner in the West. He worked as a senior consultant, acupuncturist and herbalist in different clinics across the country. he was one of the initial founder and head doctor of the Shizhen Clinic in Norwich until the end of 2006 when he started to work in a prime clinic in London, the Hongning Clinic, which has gain international fame for it’s success in treating skin disorders since the 1980’s. Since 2008, he runs his own clinical practice in Norwich as well as lectures in the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM) London on Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, as the module leader of TCM the0ry, pathology unit. Over the 14 years of TCM practice, he gradually developed his own style of integrated diagnosis system that  involves tongue, pulse and meridian palpating differentiation. He applied these knowledge in his TCM  teaching and practice, and has achieved a great success.

PROF. LIQIN ZHAO is the Registrar of the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture, UK (ATCM); Chief Editor of the Journal of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture’ in the UK; Council member of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS) and the Gynaecological Committee of the WFCMS; Council member of Specialist Committee of Zhang Zhong Jing Hospital, China, and registered member of the British Acupuncture Council (MBAcC). She received her professorship from Henan University of TCM, and is the President of the UK Alumni Association of Henan University of TCM.

PROF. BAIFANG ZHU graduated from Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1987 with a BSc(Hons) and MSc of TCM. He has worked as a TCM consultant, Dermatologist and Acupuncturist at the Teaching Hospital of Hunan University of TCM since 1987, where he was a senior lecture and deputy director at the Dermatology Dept. He was the Deputy Director of National Chinese-Western Medical Infectious Diseases Treatment Research Centre (China).

PROF. GUANHU YANG graduated from Zhejiang Traditional Medical College and Nanjing Traditional. Upon graduation, Guanhu worked as an Assistant Professor and Professor at the Medical College of Wenzhou, China.

In 1993, Guanhu joined the staff of Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University, and From there Guanhu went to the Kanazawa Medical University of Japan and completed his Ph.D. degree in lung repair. After completion of his Ph.D., he continued his research in pulmonary biology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Since 2003, he has opened two office in Ohio to practice acupuncture. He also chaired as the director of the SHI acupuncture school, and served as editor for numerous renowned SCI journal. He has been honored as clinical assistant professor at Ohio University and Chair professor of American-Chinese joint institute of Acupuncture & rehabilitation Medicine in Wenzhou Medical University. He also is professor in Doctoral Program at American Academy of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine in USA. Guanhu is Vice President at American TCM Association. During his career, he has published 6 books and over 40 influential research articles relating to medicine.
